Aug 16, 2019 · Even with local dealers, I'd expect most to be $25-$50 under. Often the buy/sell spreads are fairly close and the margins are thin on gold bullion. This might have been a dealer that doesn't have any place to sell or hopes for large margins (and that people will need to sell and thus accept any offer).

Gold dealers make small profit - Coin Talk
Dec 2, 2017 · At the time of this writing, gold is selling at a low of $1271.20 and a high of $1290.40. So when a gold dealer buys and sells at a high of $1290.40, they make a tiny profit of $19.20. Somebody's rich! So gold dealers make a small profit each time. How does the gold business (or other precious metals) make a sustainable business of this?

There was a 10 minute wait to get back in but I found out from other people they went to unavailable status somewhere around 7 minutes after they went on sale. Got e-mail confirmation for mine within 10 minutes. Found out they have actually produced the full mintage. Don't know how many the dealers got in presales.

For example, having scoured the web for hours upon hours, the best deal I can find right now for a box of 500 2009 Silver Eagles is $9070. The seller charges a 1% premium, bringing the total to $9160.70.
