Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi have caused a stir in the chess community after agreeing to share the World Blitz Championship title earlier this week.

The first day of the World Championship in the shorter versions of chess saw five rounds of rapid chess and teenagers shine through in it.

Humpy had on Sunday capped a wonderful year for Indian chess, defeating Irene Sukandar of Indonesia to emerge the FIDE Women's World Rapid Chess champion. The Indian had won the event back in 2019 at Georgia and, on Sunday, became only the second player after China's Ju Wenjun to clinch the title a second time.

India’s R Vaishali won bronze at the FIDE World Blitz Championship in the women’s section. Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi shared the title in the open section after three consecutive draws in sudden death.
