Voters in northern and central Virginia will vote in special elections to fill two vacancies in the state senate and an open seat in the House of Delegates.

Democrats held on to the Loudoun House and Senate seats, while Republicans retained a Senate post in central Virginia, according to the Associated Press.

Three special elections in Virginia will determine which party holds control of the State Senate and House of Delegates. Democrats are favored in two of the districts, both in Loudoun County, a Washington suburb. Republicans are favored to hold a rural State Senate seat west of Richmond.
