The St. Helena Sheriff’s Office is investigating a triple homicide that occurred in Amite on Thursday afternoon.

Greene County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a man Thursday in connection with the New Year's Day triple homicide in State Line.

According to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office, Virgil Thew, a man wanted in connection to a triple homicide, is in custody. The arrest ends an over week-long manhunt for Thew, who was wanted in connection with the deaths of an adult and two children in New Lisbon.

The Juneau County Sheriff's Office confirmed Virgil Thew, 47, of New Lisbon, was apprehended Thursday in Elroy after being on the run for more than a week.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. deputies with St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an apparent triple homicide at 1599 Sawmill Road in Amite.
