The Whale Interpretive Centre, where visitors could walk underneath huge whale skeletons suspended from the ceiling, was a huge tourist attraction that helped fuel the economy of northern Vancouver Island.

It takes years to rebuild a whale. Just ask Jim Borrowman, co-founder of the Whale Interpretive Centre museum that housed numerous whale skeletons on the boardwalk of Telegraph Cove on Vancouver Island.

North Island fire crews have officially left Telegraph Cove.

The biggest project undertaken by the museum was Finny, a 20-metre fin whale struck and killed by a cruise ship near Port Hardy. It was a six-year project to get the skeleton hung in the museum.
