The new St. Louis County Council on Tuesday overrode County Executive Sam Page's veto of a bill that seeks to have the government pay the legal fees of Councilman Dennis Hancock.

One of the ideas under consideration would allow the seven-member council to remove the county executive with five votes.

The St. Louis County Council discussed two major proposals Tuesday night: one that could eventually lead to them ousting County Executive Sam Page, and another that requests the state conduct an investigation into the county’s prosecuting attorney’s office that could lead to a full audit.

Councilwoman Rita Heard Days told the Post-Dispatch that the goal of the proposal is to hold the county's top elected official—the county executive—accountable. Days asserts that the council aims to ensure accountability in the interactions between Page's office and the council,
