Two people were arrested after a heist at a South Bay grocery store in which more than $1,000 in meat was stolen over the New Year's holiday, deputies said.

The Safeway manager told authorities that an employee saw two men load large amounts of meat into bags and head for the exit doors, Jarosz said. The manager followed the men outside and saw them get into a getaway car, a black Toyota Prius, Jarosz said.
