MONTREAL — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has confirmed a Quebec man has died after a boat explosion in Florida’s Broward County. The FWC says its preliminary investigation in Fort Lauderdale shows a 37-foot vessel exploded on Monday after its engines were started, injuring all seven passengers on board.

A 41-year-old man from Quebec died following a boat explosion at a South Florida marina that also injured six people. The explosion occurred Monday, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed the man's identity to CBC on Wednesday.

Several local media outlets are quoting the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as saying Sebastien Gauthier died after the explosion at the Lauderdale Marina.
